Introduction to Cyanotype

Cyanotype is a diverse and fascinating non-toxic photographic printing process that creates a beautiful blue impression on natural fibers like watercolour paper. Once the paper has been coated, items like leaves, flowers, glassware, or transparencies are placed on top and then exposed to sunlight or alternative ultraviolet light.  After rinsing in water, you will have created a magical blue impression of the items.

In this workshop, you will create a set of 4 beautiful cards using your newly created cyanotypes.

An array of dried and/or pressed botanicals will be provided for you to use in this class. You are also invited to bring small items you think will make an interesting impression (stencils, die cuts, transparent glass objects, pressed leaves and flowers are fun to experiment with!)

Bring:
Double sided tape.
Paper trimmer (if you have one) and a scoring tool.
Ruler, pencil and eraser.

Optional:
 pressed leaves, foliage,
 stencils of your choice.
