Storage Ideas

As I was floating around the web I came across this really practical storage idea on Sherrie Siemens blog. I love how she is storing her dies on the wall! Right out where they can be seen and easy to reach.  I find the easier it is to reach for a supply the more often I tend to use it.  For details on how Sherrie is doing this, check out her blog here.

Like the way Sherrie is storing her copics? These are the acrylic displays that retails stores use.  Would you like one of these on your craft desk?  Then you are in luck!

Scrap & Bean currently has a few of these acrylic copic displays for sale.  Since we now have the great copic tower, we are selling the acrylic displays that you see in Sherries photo above.

Simply Copic Christmas Card

Todays snowfall put me in the mood for cuddling up to a warm tea and my copics.  Honestly anything is a good excuse to turn to my copics, but the snowy cold weather sounded ligit didn’t it?

Sharing here a really quick and simple Christmas card.  As the season gets closer we need quicker cards right? Perhaps this will give you inspiration for quick little cards.

This cute little penguin, and some of his simular looking friends, are available at Scrap & Bean.  There are also lots of snowmen on our shelves that could easily be used in this same way. Would you like more inspiration?  There are lots of projects on display at Scrap & Bean.

Happy Crafting!

Tim Holtz District Market

District Market has arrived!  This is Tim Holtz new collection of stationary, gifts, and even home decor items.   Every item he designed in the collection is very appealing.  However, I can picture each one of the items being altered.  In true Tim Holtz style everything can use some inking and layering.  The tins of note cards are a perfect example.  Great the way they come, or why not add some layering, stamping or even some crackle paint?  The possibilities are limited only by our imagination. Do Tim proud and alter some of the District Market items.

Sew Ribbon

I am so excited about Sew Ribbon!  Ever since We R Memory Keepers revealed these at CHA time I have been waiting for them to release the first shipments.  It’s been a long waite, but worth it.

They have arrived….all the template patterns…..all the ribbon colors.  I immediately bought one, used it, and fell in love.   I admit…I love ribbon!  I love the texture and dimension it adds to any project.  I also love the pop of color it can create.   Over the years, I have tied bows, wrapped ribbon, gathered ribbon, frayed the ribbon, died the ribbon, woven the ribbon, and done everything else I could think of to get variety with ribbon on my cards and scrapbook pages.  This is great new way to apply ribbon that I have never been able to do before.

With these easy to use tools, you can apply ribbon anywhere on your project. Even in the very centre of a 12×12 page!  It’s just so exciting!  Please tell me I am not the only person to get thrilled over ribbon :)        Here is the first layout I created with my new Sew Ribbon template tool.

To see this complete layout be sure to stop in the store. It’s a quick and easy layout that gave me the perfect excuse to use my new favorite tool.   I should caution you… be careful about asking me in person about this new tool as I tend to get a little over excited about it!  Ok…that is fair warning, ask if you dare :)

Happy crafting!  And do add some ribbon to your next project.

Copic Classes

You hear, see, and read about copic markers.  Do you wonder what the deal is?  Well, at Scrap & Bean we have several Certified Copic Designers on staff to answer your questions, as well as many projects on display to inspire your copic creativity.

Not only does Scrap & Bean carry every color of copic sketch marker (all 346!), we also carry the re-inkers.  Better yet…Scrap & Bean offers the service of re-filling your copic markers for you.  How convenient!

Scrap & Bean offers a full array of copic classes from the introduction class:

The introduction class covers:

  • several blending techniques
  • demonstration on re-filling ink to your copic marker
  • how to use the colorless blender pen
  • what the numbering system means
  • how to choose your colors
  • why you should avoid purchasing “sets” of markers, and how to save $$ by building your own collection
  • which size marker is suitable for you, and why
  • how different papers react to the alcohol ink in copic markers
  • which inks to use, which to avoid, and how to test unknown inks

The introductory class is not so much about creating a finished project, (although you do receive the materials to complete a card) this class is designed to give you lots of opportunity to blend several images and go home confident to use your copic markers on any project.

Once you have attended the copic introduction class you are ready to learn many more techniques in our more advanced classes.  Here are some of the upcoming advanced classes for this fall…

Techniques on creating white, black, and red on your images, as well as airbrushing with copics.  Just in time to use these colors on your Christmas projects.

Techinique: Creating the texture of fur with your copic markers.

Also using the airbrush system, opaque white, and copic glitter pens.

Have copic questions? We have answers.
